Longitude Database
Selecting Number Of Machines During Installation
When you are installing longitude it will ask you to specify the number of machines you will be monitoring. The default number is 100. If you plan on monitoring more increase this number. 100 Machines is a 3 gigabyte Database and if you are monitoring more than 100 machines then your database will automatically extend itself by allocating another partition the same size as the initial partition. (In this case 3 gigabytes)
Account information needed during Longitude installation
When you install a Longitude Management Console, you will be asked for two separate accounts: a user account internal to Longitude, and a Windows service account for the Statistics Server to use.
The internal Longitude account will be the account that you use to log in to Longitude the first time you access it, and will also be used as the Longitude database administrator account. Please keep note of the username and password you create for this account, since it will be used if you need to restore Longitude from backup. The username and password for this account should not be changed.
kb56: Web UI becomes slow due to full database
The Web UI can slow down if the database fills up. The Longitude Upgrade Manager automatically allocates more storage space to a database that is over 80% full or has less than 100Mb of free space, but if the database fills up despite this, the Web UI will be very slow. To check how much space is left in the database and allocate more, if necessary:
- Start up SAP DB WWW
On Windows, this process is started by starting the SAP DB WWW service.
On Linux, this process is started by switching to the Longitude/bin directory and executing:
./firenze_sapdbWebAdm start
kb54: Extract Longitude data to a flat file
You can use SAP DB SQL Studio to run a query against the Longitude database and save it to an external file. See the following link for more info:

kb52: Access the SAP database and look at the structure of the database
There is a web based interface to the SAP database. Before you can access the interface, you need to start SapWWW as follows:
On Windows, this process is started by starting the SAP DB WWW service.
On Linux, this process is started by executing:
/etc/rc.d/init.d/firenze_sapdbWebAdm start
Use the following URL to access the WebSQL interface (substituting the name of your Management Station for YourMgmtStation):
http://YourMgmtStation:7230/websql
Enter the server name, database name ("fzedb1" - with no quotes), and the username and password used when installing Longitude.
kb38: Fixing "SQL Statement is too long" Error in Event Monitor
You receive the following error message from the Event Monitor:
SQL Statement is too long. Increase the DB parameter Packet Size.
Please follow these steps:
- Stop all of the Longitude Services (Statistics Server, Consolidator, Engine, WebUI, Upgrade Manager)
- Log into the following url:
http://LongitudeServerName:7230/webdbm
Database: FZEDB1
User: dbm
Password: the password entered when install was done - Under Configuration click Parameters
