kb2: Longitude licensing
The Longitude license is applied to the Management Console, and when an application is monitored by Longitude, the appropriate license for that application is removed from the Allowed licenses pool. In Administration >> Licensing >> Display License, the Licensed Solutions section displays a summary of the licenses used and the Licensed Computers section displays a summary of the licenses used per monitored device.
How are licenses used when I monitor Layered Applications and Transactions?
If you are monitoring a layered application it will use a layered application unit and an operating system unit as well. Some transactions require the use of two units since they are dependent on one another (e.g. Checking a Service is dependent on using WMI Connect. This is to make you aware that if WMI is down the Service still could be running.)

kb49: Unable to load license due to name mismatch
When you attempt to load a new license, you see a red "Show Errors" link at the top of the page instead of the message "License loaded successfully." When you click on the "Show Errors" link, you see this message: "Message: A general error occurred: Computer name on license (Name in license) does not match the host name (name detected for Management Station)." This usually means that the license was made for a different computer name (or a different form of the computer name) than Longitude is detecting for the Management Station.
