Coming soon: Longitude V6.3 - Enhanced VMware monitoring, network monitoring, Oracle monitoring

As summer winds down, we’re winding up to release Longitude V6.3 this fall. Here’s a quick look at what’s new:

There have been a number of refinements and enhancements:

  • Auto-discovery now allows on-demand auto-discovery of Windows, Unix, and Network Devices. You can now specify the range of IP addresses to search within a single C-class range. The discovery process itself is also faster.
  • The Event Monitor supports acknowledgement of events, which allows you to track who is working on a problem. Also the interface offers more granularity in filtering events based on Open, Closed, Acknowledged, etc .
  • Additional adjustments to the web interface provide quicker navigation

Application and network monitoring has received a number of additions and enhancements:

  • VMware monitoring - leverages native VMware system calls in order to provide additional coverage and a tighter integration with ESX Server 4.0 and VCenter 4.
  • Network monitoring - includes Netflow analysis, in addition to performance monitoring and reporting coverage for a broader range of network devices.
  • Oracle Monitoring - collects and reports on more metrics.

I hope that gives you a taste of what’s coming soon - I’ll expand on these enhancements in future blog posts, but for now, if you’d like to participate in our beta program, email me at Ken.Leoni@Heroix.com and I’ll make sure we get a copy to you.
