kb82: Registration of Longitude application fails with systeminfo Logon error
If the registration of a Longitude application fails and the error message indicates that the systeminfo command could not be executed due to a logon failure, check the DCOM settings on the computer you are trying to monitor, as follows:
- Make sure the “Distributed Transaction Coordinator” service is started.
- Run DCOMCNFG on the target.
- Expand Component Services until you see My Computer.
- Right-click My Computer and select Properties.
- Go to the Default Properties tab and make sure the box is checked for "Enable Distributed COM on this computer." Click OK.
- Display the Default Properties tab again - the Default Authentication Level should be Connect and the Default Impersonation Level should be Identify.
****Please note:
A reboot may be needed on the monitored system for these changes to take effect.
