kb73: WindowsEventLog registration is timing out
Very large Windows Event Logs may experience "Timeout" errors when Longitude attempts to collect data. The amount of time used for the collections can be increased as follows:
- Go to Home » Administration » Component Management » Manage Longitude Properties
- Select the Statistics Server Agent that is configured to collect the Windows Event Log data.
- Select the Advanced tab and increase WmiCollectionTimeoutSeconds. It is not recommended to increase this to a value >=300.
- Click the SAVE CHANGES button.
- Go to Home » Administration » Component Management » Start-up/Shutdown, select the Statistics Server Agent, and click Restart.
- Wait until the Statistics Server Agent status is green, and then try to register the Windows Event Log application again.
- If increasing the Timeout value does not correct the problem, and the logs are not populating quickly, try clearing them of old data for the initial collection.
