kb64: Inaccurate (very large and/or negative) WMI statistic values

By csmith - Posted on 16 November 2009

Inaccurate statistic values can be caused by several different things:

  1. If the values returned by a WMI collection are extremely large or negative, WMI may be out of syncronization with the PerfMon counters on the target system. The issue may be resolved by resynchronizing the performance counters (see steps listed in this FAQ topic).
  2. If the Longitude Management Station is not set to use a regional setting of U.S. English, and the numeric values use a "," as a decimal point, Longitude may collect inaccurate metric values. Make sure you are logged on with the Longitude Service account when you set the server to U.S. English settings.
  3. If you have manually modified the .xml file for the collection schedule to run at a very frequent interval (e.g. <1 minute), the metrics may be inaccurate.
