kb62: Collections inactivated due to timeout errors
A collection is inactivated with a recommendation to increase the OperationTimeoutSeconds, as in the following error:
Failed to collect: Command 'iostat -d -x 1 2' is not returning promptly
on device DeviceName using access protocol ssh: ;Retry the
request or increase the value of OperationTimeoutSeconds
Collection disabled at: 2006-04-03 14:20
Collection went inactive at: 2006-04-03 14:20
If the problem persists, you can increase the OperationTimeoutSeconds, as follows:
- In the Web UI go to Home >> Administration >> Component Management >> Manage Longitude Properties.
- Select the Statistics Server, click the Advanced button, increase the OperationTimeoutSeconds value (and if this is a problem for WMI collections, the WMICollectionTimeout value), and click the Save Changes button.
- Select the Consolidator, click the Advanced button, increase the TcpTimeoutSeconds so that it is 20 seconds more than the Statistics Server's OperationTimeoutSeconds value, and click the Save Changes button.
- Go to Home >> Administration >> Component Management >> Start-up/Shutdown and restart the Statistics Server.
