6.2: SQL 2008 Collections Failing for Windows 2003 servers
There is a Microsoft problem in which the SQL Server 2008 PerfMon counters on Windows Server 2003 are not accessible via WMI. When Microsoft has a fix for this problem, we will post a link to the fix. Until then, the following steps can be used to monitor default instances of SQL Server 2008 on both Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008.
****Please note:
This patch will be used for all SQL Server 2008 collections, on both Windows 2003 and Windows 2008, and is only valid for default SQL instances. If you need to monitor non-default instances, this patch will not work for your configuration.

To put this patch in place:
- Download the perfmon.zip zip file containing the modified collectors.
- Extract the files in perfmon.zip to the Longitude\applications\SQL2008\collectors folder – overwrite the files of the same name in this folder.
- If you have any remote statistics servers, extract the files from perfmon.zip into the Longitude\applications\SQL2008\collectors folder on the agents as well.
- Restart the Statistics Server on any servers where you’ve put the modified files.
- Register a collection for SQL2008 on a Windows 2003 server.
