kb45: Exchange Folder statistics reported as zero in reports
If the Longitude reports are incorrectly displaying zero values in an Exchange Folder report, the Statistics Server account may not have the permissions that it needs to collect this information from Exchange.
The account assigned to the Statistics Server service must have the following permissions:
- The account must be a member of the Local Administrators group on the monitored Exchange server.
- The account must have Read access in Exchange to collect Mailbox and Folder metrics.
- The account must be a member of the Domain Admins group in order to collect Folder metrics.
- The account must have View Information Store Status access in Exchange.
To check the permissions for the account used by the Statistics Server:
- Run the Exchange System monitor while logged on with an account that has full control in Exchange.
- Display the properties for the Administrative Groups folder for the Exchange Server.
- Click the Security tab
- Check that the Statistics Server account has at least Read and View Information Store Status permission, or add the account in with those permissions.
- When you set these permissions, click the Advanced button and make sure that it says Apply onto This object, subcontainers and child objects.
- Under the Folders directory that is at the same level as the Servers subdirectory, right-click on the Public Folders icon
- Select Properties
- Go to the Security tab.
- Add the account here, with the same permissions as before and in the Advanced properties make sure that it says Apply onto This object, subcontainers and child objects.
