kb21: Longitude e-mails rejected by user-defined SMTP server

If a user-defined SMTP server has been configured, you may need to configure the MailFrom property to be an e-mail address that matches an account on the SMTP server. MailFrom is not a common component property - it will need to be configured for the following components:

  • Rule Engine
  • Web UI
  • Upgrade Manager

Configure the property as follows:

  1. Go to: Home >> Administration >> Component Management >> Manage Longitude Properties.
  2. Click the component from the list above.
  3. Click the Advanced button
  4. Edit the MailFrom property to an address that your SMTP server will accept (the e-mail address that you specified in the MailServerUser property is recommended)
  5. Click the Save Changes button.
  6. Repeat for each of the three effected components.

More information about configuring e-mail settings in Longitude is available in the online help (Help >> Contents >> General Information >> Longitude SMTP Server).
